The Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall provide weights in conformity with the standards of the National Bureau of Standards of the United States of America. Once these standards have been certified by the said federal agency, they shall be known as the primary standards of weights and measures of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Said standards shall be kept in a safe place in the Economic Stabilization Administration of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and shall not be removed from said agency except for repairs or certification. To be certified as correct they shall be sent at least once every ten (10) years to the National Bureau of Standards in Washington, D.C. Said primary standards shall be used only for verifying the office standards and for scientific purposes.
