§ 847. Exemptions, extension of provisional licenses

All persons who, at the time this act takes effect, hold a provisional license to practice the profession of social work in Puerto Rico may continue to practice the same for a period of four (4) years from the date of the approval of this act; Provided, That this right shall be extended to persons whose provisional licenses have expired at the time this chapter takes effect. In each year following the said four (4) years, the provisional license shall be renewable for one (1) year, [at] the discretion of the Board, provided the holder thereof presents evidence of professional progress in his work and of additional studies in social work.

Every person who, when this act takes effect, is working in any department of the Government or in a public institution as assistant to a social worker shall continue to hold his position without being in the least affected by the provisions of this chapter and shall be subject to the regulations of the department or institution in which he may be rendering his services. Every person who may have commenced to study social work under the provisions of the former law may continue his studies until their completion in accordance with Act No. 41, approved May 12, 1934.
