§ 1320d. Solid waste—Separation

(a) Once this act takes effect, it shall be the duty of the persons, Commonwealth agencies and public corporations that generate recyclable solid waste to take all measures necessary for said waste to be duly separated and classified at its source. Every industry, factory, store, business and any other kind of institution, commercial or noncommercial, educational, university, tourist, among others, profit or nonprofit, that employs more than ten (10) persons, be it fulltime or parttime, shall implement a recycling plan. This recycling plan shall provide the procedure to reduce and separate recyclable materials from the solid waste generated by the institution. Said recycling plan shall be filed with the Solid Waste Authority on or before July 1, 2001.

(b) Noncompliance of this duty shall be subject to the penalties established in this chapter, including the imposition of administrative fines.
