The object of this institution is to provide for youths of both sexes, inmates therein, in the form hereinafter stated, instruction in the principles of morality and in those branches ordinarily taught in the public schools; also in the mechanical and industrial arts, agricultural pursuits and in such practical occupations as may be best adapted to their age, strength, capacity and sex, and which may offer the greatest promise of providing them with a means of earning a living after they leave the institution.
