Section 10.03.01.13 - Commemorative Birth Certificate
A. The commemorative birth certificate shall:
(1) Cost $50 per copy, except under certain circumstances to be determined by the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, and be available for issuance to the subject of the vital record or an authorized representative of the subject of the vital record, or both, or an order of a court of competent jurisdiction;
(2) Constitute a certified copy of the original birth record and have the same legal status and be treated with the same protections afforded the photocopied or electronically produced certified copy of the original birth certificate; and
(3) Be in a form consistent with the need to protect the integrity of vital records but suitable for display.
B. Funds collected for this certificate shall be paid into the Children's Trust Fund established under Health-General Article, §13-2207, Annotated Code of Maryland. Up to $25 of each $50 collected shall go to the Department for production costs.
