Section CXLI-307 - Middle School-Fifth-Sixth Grades; Seventh-Eighth GradesA. At the middle school level, the focus is on developing an understanding of literary and structural elements found in literature and informational texts. Students develop competence in communicating thoughts and ideas through written expression. For students with significant cognitive disabilities, speaking and listening skills at this grade cluster also focus on effective communication. Students follow multi-step directions, carry out single procedures and routines, and participate in group discussions.
