Any person, firm or corporate body who shall, be himself, herself or themselves, or by his, her or their agents or servants, manufacture, sell, ship, consign, offer for sale, expose for sale, or have in possession with intent to sell, any article of vegetable food containing any coloring matter yielding on analysis more than one-fiftieth of one per centum of metallic copper, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor; and upon conviction thereof in the court of quarter sessions of the proper county, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than fifty dollars nor more than one hundred dollars, or be imprisoned in the jail of the county for not exceeding sixty days, or both, at the discretion of the court.
