§ 175. Monument to the Puerto Rican Soldier—Competitions; surveys; determination of form of monument

The Committee is also hereby empowered to hold one or more open contests or competitions for the presentation of types of monuments, ideas, preliminary designs, and/or projects of monuments for honoring the Puerto Rican soldier, which may include, among others, cultural, educational, recreational, and monumental works, such as libraries, parks, plazas, auditoriums, community centers, and similar projects, or combinations thereof. The Committee is hereby empowered to carry out, after the various proposals have been received, such surveys as it may deem pertinent and make recommendations to the Governor of Puerto Rico on the type or types of monument and/or projects which the Committee deems suitable for erection to the Puerto Rican soldier, in the order of their preference, and to recommend prizes and honorable mentions for the participants who in their judgment are worthy of same. The Governor shall, after studying all such recommendations, make such final decision as he may deem proper in accordance with the spirit of §§ 173—177 of this title.
