§ 66. Multi-sector and Multidisciplinary Committee consisting of the government, academia, and the private sector (Committee)—Creation, composition, and duties

(a) The Multi-sector and Multidisciplinary Committee consisting of the government, academia, and the private sector (Committee) is hereby created.

(b) The Committee shall devise an integrative and comprehensive work plan to address the demographic challenge.

(c) The Committee shall be attached to and chaired by the Planning Board.

(d) The Committee shall be composed of representatives of the following government agencies and professional organizations and educational institutions:

(1) The Planning Board.

(2) The Department of Health.

(3) The Department of the Family.

(4) The Department of Housing.

(5) The Department of Education.

(6) The College of Certified Public Accountants.

(7) The College of Engineers and Surveyors.

(8) The Puerto Rico Surgeons Association.

(9) The College of Social Workers.

(10) The Gerontology Program of the Graduate School of Public Health of the University of Puerto Rico.

(11) AARP Puerto Rico.

(e) The main duty of the Committee shall be to devise the aforesaid work plan, geared to identifying and implementing necessary measures for the development of the Puerto Rico of 2015, by addressing the needs of its demographic composition.

(f) The Planning Board, the Department of Health, and the Department of the Family shall be the government agencies responsible for developing a work plan to address the demographic issues.

(g) The Committee shall apply population projections, such as: school enrollment, older population, and civilian noninstitutional population 16 years of age and older. In addition, it shall develop methodologies to carry out other type of projections, including household, family, and housing unit projections.
