§ 3518b. Complaint and summons

Form and procedure to file a complaint and summons. — The law enforcement officer who intervenes in any act in violation of §§ 3518—3518b of this title shall follow the following procedure:

(1) Sign the complaint, which shall summon the accused to appear before the corresponding court within a term of ten (10) days counting from the date of the complaint.

(2) Give a copy thereof to the defendant.

(3) Remit the original complaint to the Clerk of the Court of First Instance corresponding to the place the violation was committed.

(4) Remit a copy to the Police Headquarters of the district in which the violation was committed.

(5) Keep a copy thereof.

(6) For all legal purposes, the mediating law enforcement officer shall be deemed a court official.
