§ 1241. Photographic reproductions—Preservation of microfilms

A copy of these records obtained as indicated, shall be permanently filed at the Division of the Demographic Registry and Vital Statistics of the Department of Health, and another copy shall be deposited with the Commonwealth or federal government agency which, in the judgment of the Secretay of Health, can offer the safest conditions for its preservation.

The Secretary may authorize any organization, society, agency or corporation duly-authorized to operate as such, to permanently file a copy of the registrations obtained in the manner described in § 1240 of this title, which in the judgment of the Secretary, shall provide the best conditions to safeguard their preservation.

The Secretary shall guarantee accessibility to the copies found in the custody of entities other than the Department, for the future use. He/she shall also guarantee that the copies in the custody of those entities shall only be used as historical references.
