§ 946a. Barbiturates and other dangerous drugs—Drugs for use of animals; human consumption of products derived from animals

The articles or drugs exclusively intended for the use of animals shall not be subject to the provisions of §§ 933, 934, 935, 936, 938, 939 and 940 of this title, provided same are manufactured or packed expressly for said purposes in such a manner that they may not have alternate or interchangeable use in human beings and that said data is clearly stated on the label.

The Secretary of Health shall as soon as possible promulgate the corresponding regulation for the purpose of assuring that the public health will not be affected by the human consumption of the products derived from animals which have been submitted to treatment with dangerous medicines or drugs; said regulation expressly to provide that the human consumption of the products of said animals is prohibited for the period of time which the Secretary may determine.
