§ 48a. Land for medico-hospital installations—Gratuitous assignment in usufruct

The Secretary of Transportation and Public Works is hereby authorized to assign gratuitously in usufruct to nonprofit organizations or associations any parcel of land within the lands already acquired by the Commonwealth for the construction of medico-hospital installations, on condition that such parcel be devoted to the construction and operation of diagnostic, treatment, rehabilitation, and medical research centers, or to nursing homes or hospitals, or to such other facility as the Secretary of Health shall deem should form a part of the medico-hospital installations. The Secretary of Transportation and Public Works is, furthermore, authorized to convey any parcel, within the above-mentioned lands, to the municipalities or to any agencies or instrumentalities of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or of the Government of the United States of America, entirely or partly devoted to medical or odontological education or to the development and preservation of public health.
