§ 982b. Criteria

The following criteria shall concur, prior to the activation of the “SILVER Alert”:

(1) The person must have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or other kind of dementia;

(2) the citizen reporting a missing person to the Police must prove that the missing person suffers from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia through a letter certified by the physician or by furnishing evidence of prescription drugs to treat such condition;

(3) and that, due to the aforementioned conditions, the missing person lacks the faculty to consent, and that there is an imminent danger of bodily harm or death;

(4) that the Puerto Rico Police has determined that the person meets the aforementioned criteria and is indeed missing, and

(5) the person who makes the report must provide the following information: name, age, diagnosis, physical description of the missing person, the clothes he/she was wearing on the date he/she was last seen, and any other information that may be useful to identify and locate the missing person.
