§ 3244. Professional Counselors Examining Board—Terms and conditions of service

The appointment as member of the Board shall be for three (3) years. However, the members of the Board initially appointed shall serve as such for the terms specified as follows: the representative of the public interest, and the counseling professors shall serve for three (3) years each; the professional counselor employed in the private sector, shall serve for two (2) years and the professional counselors employed in the public sector, for a term of one (1) year. At the end of their term each Board member shall continue in office until his/her successor is designated and confirmed. No person shall serve on the Board for two (2) consecutive terms. Every two (2) years, the members of the Board shall elect a chairman, a vice chairman and a secretary from among its members to perform said functions; Provided, That the representative of public interest shall not hold any of the three positions on the Board.

The Governor may remove any member for just cause upon proffering of charges, notice and hearing for incompetence, negligence in the performance of his/her duties, or when found guilty of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or when the professional counselor’s license is revoked or annulled by the Board pursuant to the provisions of this chapter.
