§ 526a. Lots set aside for cooperative associations in rural communities

The Housing Development and Improvements Administration of Puerto Rico is hereby authorized to set aside in the rural communities established under Title V, and in small individual farm projects established under Title VI of the Land Law, lots to be sold to legally constituted cooperative associations, of the size to be determined by the Secretary of Housing provided the lot so sold is to be used by cooperative associations established to serve mainly the communities or the farms created under the above-mentioned titles; Provided, That in no case shall lots be ceded in preferent or privileged sites of rural communities and individual farm projects; Provided, further, That alienations authorized by this section and § 526b of this title shall carry with them the essential condition, as a part of the sale contract, that the cooperative associations acquiring such lots shall, in case of sale of the said lots, be under obligation to resell the same back to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, represented by the Secretary of Housing of Puerto Rico or the official to whom he may delegate, to carry out the ends and purposes of the Housing Development and Improvements Administration, should said administration be interested in acquiring them therefor.
