§ 780. Deposit of floating objects for safety

If, in order to prevent floods from carrying away timber or objects floated down the river, it shall become necessary to remove and deposit them on the riparian estates, the owners of the latter shall not have the right to prevent it, and shall be entitled only to payment for loss and damage. Such charge shall constitute a first lien on the timber or objects, which shall not be removed before the conductors thereof have made payment or furnished security.
