The Bureau shall be under the direction of a Director, who shall be appointed by the Secretary and shall hold office at the latter’s discretion. The Secretary shall personally authorize all the activities to be carried out by the Director and the members of the Bureau.
The Director shall be a lawyer admitted to the practice of the legal profession by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and shall have no less than three (3) years of investigative experience or three (3) years of experience in law practice. The Secretary of Justice shall designate a prosecutor to hold said position taking into consideration his proven good reputation and his professional experience, and who shall meet the previously indicated experience requirements. Provided, also, That any prosecutor appointed as Director shall keep the rights and privileges of the prosecutor’s position for the term of his appointment as such.
