§ 1633a. Powers and duties

The Executive Director of the Office of Youth Affairs of the Office of the Governor shall be responsible for the implementation and enforcement of this chapter. In addition to the powers and responsibilities of the office, he/she shall:

(a) Create the Regulations of the Summit, detailing therein all matters concerning its organization and operation to guarantee the adequate implementation of this chapter.

(b) Amend the Regulations of the Summit when necessary.

(c) Appoint the officers that shall work in the Summit, as well as the resources and support needed to carry out its duties.

(d) Coordinate and hold the annual Summit in the month of June, which has been designated as Puerto Rican Youth Month.

(e) Implement the public policy set forth in this chapter by means of the Summit.

(f) Render an annual report to the Governor and the Legislature. Said report shall be rendered no later than June 30th of each year and it shall include the steps taken during the fiscal year, the findings and recommendations outlined in the Summit by the Puerto Rican youth and proposals for the youth. A detailed explanation of the income and disbursements made during the year, including a budget proposal for the next year, shall also be included.

(g) Assemble the Summit in government facilities, including those of the executive, legislative and judicial branches, at the municipal or state levels.

(h) Request additional funds to the Governor and/or the Legislature exclusively for the purposes of the Summit. Said funds may be appropriated by Joint Resolution, but they shall not be considered of a concurrent nature.

(i) Match the funds with those of the federal and municipal government and/or funds from private entities.
