The following terms and phrases contained in this chapter shall have the following meaning:
(a) OYA.— The Office of Youth Affairs of the Office of the Governor of Puerto Rico.
(b) Program.— The “Juvempleo” Program, attached to the OYA.
(c) University institution.— Any university of the local public or private system accredited by the Council on Higher Education that offers bachelor’s degrees in any specialization.
(d) Post-graduate educational institution.— Any public or private educational institution that offers post-graduate studies in any specialty and is accredited by the Puerto Rico Council on Higher Education or any entity which assumes the duties thereof.
(e) Institution that grants associate degrees.— Any public or private educational institution that offers associate degrees in any specialty and is accredited by the Puerto Rico Council on Higher Education or any entity that assumes the duties thereof.
(f) University student.— Any young person in his/her last year of university studies toward a bachelor’s degree at any university institution of Puerto Rico accredited by the Council on Higher Education.
(g) Public employer.— All agencies, public corporations, administrations, consortiums, offices or public instrumentalities that are able to hire university students.
(h) Young student.— Any youth pursuing a technical, vocational, bachelor, graduate, or post-graduate degree at any public or private institution in Puerto Rico accredited by the Puerto Rico Council on Higher Education or the entity that assumes the duties thereof.
(i) Public employer.— Any Agency, Public Corporation, Administration, Consortium, Office, or Public Instrumentality that can hire young students.
(j) Private employer.— Offices, businesses, and private industries and corporations, which have a certificate of good standing, are duly incorporated in the Department of State, whether for profit or not, and can hire young students.
