Whenever a judgment is satisfied otherwise than upon an execution, the party or his attorney must give an acknowledgment of same; and upon motion the court may require the party to execute the acknowledgment, or may order the certificate of satisfaction to be issued by the secretary to the registrar, which shall authorize that officer to make the proper entry upon his registry on payment of the fee allowed by law.
