An agent who, without express authorization of the principal, should transact any business at prices or under conditions which are more onerous than the current market rates or the date on which it took place, shall be liable to the principal for the loss he may have caused him thereby, a statement to the effect that he made transactions at the same time for his own account under similar circumstances not being admissible as an excuse.
