For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms and phrases shall have the meaning stated below:
(a) Candidate or candidates. — Means the candidates to the Presidency and the Vice Presidency of the United States of America.
(b) Commission or Elections Commission. — Means the electoral body created by Act No. 4 of December 20, 1977.
(c) Presidential Elector. — Means the person designated according to the provisions of this chapter, who is committed to vote for a certain candidate for the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the United Slates of America.
(d) Presidential election. — Means the process whereby the voters issue their vote to state their preference with regard to the candidates nominated for the office of President and Vice President of the United States of America through the designation of presidential electors as provided in this chapter.
(e) Electoral law. — Means Act No. 4 of December 20, 1977, denominated as the “Puerto Rico Electoral Law”.
(f) National party. — Means that entity or organization that is defined in §§ 1321 et seq. of this title, known as the “Compulsory Presidential Primaries Act”.
(g) Chairperson. — Means the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Elections Commission.
