§ 5271. Unity Day

(a) October 9 of each year is hereby declared as “Unity Day”, in order to raise awareness of bullying in schools, the workplace, and communities.

(b) The Governor of Puerto Rico, through a proclamation to such effect, shall encourage the People of Puerto Rico to join in the observance of “Unity Day”.

(c) The Department of Education, the Office of Youth Affairs, the Puerto Rico Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Department of the Family, the Department of Labor and Human Resources, as well as public instrumentalities and entities and the municipalities of Puerto Rico, shall adopt the necessary measures to achieve the purposes of this section by organizing and holding activities in observance of “Unity Day”.

(d) A copy of the proclamation shall be distributed each year to the mass media for broadcasting and publication.
