§ 5157. Police Athletic League Week

(a) The fourth week of April of each year is designated as the “Puerto Rico Police Athletic League Week”.

(b) Each year, at least ten (10) days in advance of the fourth week of April of each year, the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall issue a proclamation in which he/she shall exhort the people of Puerto Rico, as well as the different agencies and entities in charge of offering services, one way or another, through the Police Athletic League Program, both at the state and municipal levels, and to organize and sponsor the pertinent activities to celebrate the “Puerto Rico Police Athletic League Week”.

For such purposes, the Puerto Rico Police, the Municipal Police of the different municipalities of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rico Public Broadcasting Corporation, as well as other agencies, bodies and public or quasi-public entities of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall adopt the necessary measures to attain the goals of this section by organizing and carrying out activities to celebrate the “Puerto Rico Police Athletic League Week”.

The responsibility of directing and coordinating in an integrated manner all government efforts at both state and municipal levels geared toward the achievement of the purposes of this section falls upon the Puerto Rico police.
