§ 33a. Official Salute to the Flag

(a) The text of the Official Salute to the Flag of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall be the following:

“I hereby swear before the Flag of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to honor the nation it symbolizes, the people it represents and the ideals it embodies of liberty, justice and dignity.”

(b) The Official Salute to the Flag of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall be recited on the following occasions:

(1) At those official and civic activities that because of their nature so merit.

(2) On those occasions in which the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico so determines.

(3) On those occasions in which the Secretary of State of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico so determines.

(4) At all acts of an official or civic nature at which the oath to the flag of the United States of America or of any other nation is recited.
