§ 5008. Heavy motor vehicles

Every application for the registration of a heavy motor vehicle with or without a trailer, or semi-trailer, commercial motor vehicles, light trucks and heavy trucks, as well as the permit for the same issued by the Secretary, shall state the weight of the unloaded vehicle and the maximum loaded capacity thereof, according to its factory specifications or as provided by the Secretary by regulations.

This information shall also be consigned on the left and right side of every heavy motor vehicle. It shall be an administrative fault which shall bring about a fine of five hundred dollars ($500), to declare a different capacity, whether greater or lesser, for a heavy motor vehicle with or without a trailer or semitrailer, commercial motor vehicles, light or heavy trucks for a capacity that is less or more than that for which is authorized according to its factory specifications or as provided by the Secretary by regulations. Excepted from this provision are trailers or tractors, which shall only indicate the weight of the unit, according to the document of the manufacturer.
