§ 3533. Identification numbers; mutilation, alteration, destruction, or modification

Any persons who willingly erase, mutilate, cover, alter, destroy, remove, detach or in any other way modify the identification numbers imprinted by the manufacturer or maker or those assigned by the Secretary of Transportation and Public Works on a heavy construction or agricultural equipment unit, shall be punished by imprisonment for a fixed term of one (1) year and eight (8) months. Should there be aggravating circumstances, the fixed penalty established may be increased up to a maximum of three (3) years; should there be extenuating circumstances, the same may be reduced down to a minimum of one (1) year and three (3) months.
