§ 2301. Definitions

For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms and phrases shall have the meaning stated hereinafter, except when the context clearly states otherwise:

(1) General Council on Education. — The autonomous government body empowered to issue of licenses authorizing public and private educational institutions at a preschool, elementary, secondary and special levels to operate.

(2) Church-schools. — Those churches which include in their religious practices, academic and religious offerings, so that both activities are inseparable, thus conserving their faith and beliefs as fundamental elements in the teaching system, perceiving that the classroom is an extension and space of family worship and part of the churches’ ministry.

(3) Non-traditional educational institutions. — Those schools that do not have an organizational scheme as required by the General Council on Education.
