§ 1592e. Donations

The Agricultural Museum of Puerto Rico is hereby authorized to accept and use gifts, loans or funds from appropriations, materials, properties or other similar benefits when [originating] from any person, private institution, the State Government, the federal government, the municipal governments, from any instrumentality or agency of said governments, and to participate in contracts and convenants with any of said governments or their instrumentalities or agencies for the use of such gifts, loans or funds.

The Board of Directors shall appoint an Advisory Committee for acquisitions and exhibitions, which shall be presided by the President of the Puerto Rico Agronomists’ Association and shall include the Director of the Agricultural Museum, the collections’ curator and two other members designated by the Board. The Committee shall have the task of supervising the collection’s acquisitions and withdrawing of objects. It also has the responsibility of supervising the management of the collections and the operation of the program for their exhibition. Every precaution should be taken to ensure that all objects acquired by the Agricultural Museum of Puerto Rico:

(a) Are of a quality and [in] a state of preservation compatible with the collections’ importance.

(b) Are of importance and related to the collections’ objectives.

(c) Meet the local and international laws and all kinds of legislation and international agreements that protect the cultural patrimony of the people.

(d) Are [available for study] among the people knowledgeable in that field who shall recommend [or not their acquisition].
