§ 1514. Acquisition of site; statement of public interest; gifts and donations

(a) Whenever the Council understands that it is proper to declare any underwater archaeological site of public interest, or that it is in the public interest to acquire these archaeological sites located on private property, or that their conservation is justified as part of the cultural assets of the People of Puerto Rico, it shall thus direct the Institute through its Executive Director. The Institute may avail itself of the procedure provided for these ends by § 1198(b)(4) of this title.

(b) The Institute and the Council may accept gifts or donations of services or real or personal property, corporeal or incorporeal, that may assist in the achievement of the purposes of this chapter.
