§ 1204i. Puerto Rican Music Hall of Fame and Museum

(a) The “Puerto Rican Music Hall of Fame and Museum”, devoted to recognizing Puerto Rican composers, singers, musicians, arrangers, and backing vocalists who have distinguished themselves both locally and internationally, is hereby created.

(b) The Puerto Rican Music Hall of Fame and Museum shall be located in one of the buildings under the jurisdiction of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, the Sports and Recreation Department, the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO), or any other agency of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, as determined by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture.

The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture shall have the responsibility to ensure that the selected building allows for the establishment of the Puerto Rican Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the execution of the necessary contracts and agreements to guarantee its outfitting and maintenance.

(c) The Puerto Rican Music Hall of Fame and Museum shall be attached to the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture. The latter shall adopt regulations that include the necessary parameters to allow for its operation by a non-profit organization that meets all the requirements set forth in said regulations, so as to comply with the purposes of this section. The aforesaid non-profit organization shall adopt regulations to govern its operations.

(d) The non-profit organization that shall manage the Puerto Rican Music Hall of Fame and Museum shall establish the necessary guidelines to select inductees into the Puerto Rican Music Hall of Fame and Museum and, in so doing, shall have complete autonomy when making such selection, without pressure from either the government or any political party.
