§ 921b. Definitions

The following terms, whenever used or referred to in this chapter, except when they are incompatible with its’ purposes, shall mean:

(1) Agency. — A department, instrumentality, division, bureau or office of the Executive Branch of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, including public corporations and their subsidiaries.

(2) Governor. — The Governor of Puerto Rico.

(3) Federal government. — The government of the United States and the governments of the states of the United States, including any government body or dependencies thereof.

(4) Participating student. — Any student of either sex who, according to the regulations and norms applicable to each case, is considered as a “regular high school student” who is chosen to participate in the Student Travel Program through the drawing carried out for that purpose pursuant to the provisions of this chapter.

(5) Legislature. — The Legislature of Puerto Rico.

(6) Department of Education. — The Department of Education of Puerto Rico.

(7) Program. — The Student Travel Program.

(8) Interagency Board. — The Interagency Coordinating Board.

(9) Fund. — The Student Travel Program Fund.

(10) Executive Director. — The person in charge of the Office of Youth Affairs, the Office of the Governor.

(11) Office. — The Office of Youth Affairs created by §§ 1601 et seq. of Title 3.

(12) Regular student with disabilities. — A student with a physical or mental disability that substantially limits him or her regarding one or more of life’s main activities, who is registered with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Integral Educational Services for Persons with Disabilities and who wishes to participate in the Student Travel Program.

(13) Accompanying adult. — Any adult, be it an employee of the Office of Youth Affairs or a volunteer, chosen to accompany participating students in the trips sponsored by the Student Travel Program.
