Section 5-531 - Out-of-home placement and foster care - Payment of funeral expenses(a) A local department may pay reasonable funeral expenses, not exceeding $650, for a child who was receiving foster care under this subtitle, if:(1) no individual who was legally responsible for the support of the child is able to pay; and(2) other resources, including insurance benefits or the child's estate, are insufficient.(b) The cost of funeral expenses shall be charged to State funds.
