Section 24-1-11 - [Effective until 7/1/2024] Temporary Permit to Practice Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery; Examination Required11.1. Every physician who holds a temporary permit to practice osteopathic medicine and surgery in the state of West Virginia and who has not satisfactorily completed all steps of the COMLEX-USA examination developed by NBOME, or equivalent state osteopathic exam, shall take and pass all uncompleted portions of the COMLEX-USA examination at the next available examination date following issuance of the temporary permit.11.2. If the holder of the temporary permit fails to take the required examinations within the time specified in this section, the permit automatically expires.11.3. If the holder of the temporary permit takes the required examination, but does not pass, the holder may request an extension of the temporary permit until the next available examination date. At the discretion of the Board, additional extensions may be granted, but in no event will the Board extend a temporary permit more than 1 year after the original date of issuance.
