Section 126-1-2 - Postsecondary Vocational - TechnicalEducation Programs

It shall be the responsibility of the Board of Regents, through its community college system and in cooperation with the State Board of Education (acting as the State Board of Vocational Education), to provide postsecondary vocational -technical education programs. These programs will offer credit toward an associate or other degree but which are not designed as baccalaureate or higher degree programs. A postsecondary program will contain a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours of credit and prepare individuals for employment in a recognized occupational area. Programs will generally be two (2) years in duration and shall be designed for the preparation of technicians or paraprofessionals in occupations that require an associate or other degree.
