A retired member may establish additional creditable service if such service was creditable on the member's date of retirement and is creditable at the time it is claimed. Benefits for such additional service shall not commence until the Retirement Division receives an application for the additional service with proof that the retired member meets the statutory requirements to qualify for the service. Service credit authorized by legislation enacted after a member's retirement shall not be creditable, unless the legislation specifically provides that it applies to the retired member. A member may establish additional creditable service if such service is creditable at the time it is claimed. A member shall not be deemed to have claimed the service until the Retirement Division receives an application for the additional service with proof that the member meets the statutory requirements to qualify for the service.
