Section 74:52:03:06 - Monitoring requirements

Monitoring requirements are as follows:

(1) Monitoring results must be reported at the intervals specified in the permit;
(2) Monitoring results must be reported on a discharge monitoring report (DMR);
(3) If the permittee monitors any pollutant more frequently than required by the permit, using test procedures approved in 40 C.F.R. Part 136 (July 1, 2016); in the case of sludge use or disposal, approved under 40 C.F.R. Part 136 (July 1, 2016) unless otherwise specified in 40 C.F.R. Part 503 (July 1, 2016); or as specified in the permit, the results of the monitoring must be included in the calculation and reporting of the data submitted in the DMR;
(4) Calculations for all limitations which require the average of several measurements must use an arithmetic mean unless otherwise specified by the secretary in the permit;
(5) Samples and measurements taken for the purpose of monitoring must be representative of the monitored activity; and
(6) Unless other test procedures are specified in the permit, samples must be conducted according to test procedures approved in 40 C.F.R. Part 136 (July 1, 2016), guidelines for establishing test procedures for the analysis of pollutants, or, in the case of sludge use or disposal, approved under 40 C.F.R. Part 136 (July 1, 2016) unless otherwise specified in 40 C.F.R. Part 503 (July 1, 2016).
