Section 20:04:25.01:12 - Procedure to be used in the event certain doors malfunction

If the doors for one or more stalls of the starting gate malfunctions and the doors of the other stalls operate properly, the horses starting from the stalls in which the doors opened properly are considered starters and placed according to their electronic time. If the electronic timer malfunctions in this case, the average of the hand timers shall be used to determine the times of the horses which have been declared starters. If no hand times are available, the qualifying times from the video of the race shall be used to determine the qualifying times of the starters. The entry fee of a horse starting from a stall in which the doors opened late shall be returned to the owner of the horse at the time of the race unless the stewards have given the horse a qualifying time under the provisions of § 20:04:25.01:09.
