(a) Any livestock suspected of being affected with anasarca may be set apart and held for treatment under program or other responsible official supervision approved by the veterinary supervisor. If at the expiration of the treatment period the livestock upon examination is found to be free from disease, it may be released for any purpose. Otherwise, it shall be identified as "Pa. Suspect" and disposed of as provided in § 1.148 (relating to anasarca or generalized edema) or condemned and disposed of in accordance with subsection (b), whichever is appropriate.(b) All cattle found on antemortem inspection to be affected with anasarca in advanced stages and characterized by an extensive and generalized edema shall be identified as "Pa. Condemned" and disposed of accordingly.(c) Cattle found on antemortem inspection to be affected with anasarca to a lesser extent than as described in subsection (b) of this section shall be identified as "Pa. Suspects" and disposed of as provided in § 1.148 or subsection (a).
