I, J. Kevin Stitt, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, hereby direct the appropriate steps be taken to fly all American and Oklahoma flags on State property at half-staff from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, to honor the life and legacy of former state lawmaker Charles R. Ford, who died Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
Former Tulsa lawmaker Charles R. Ford had an extraordinary record of leadership and knowledge that exemplified his steadfast and honorable lifetime commitment to service. Former Tulsa lawmaker Charles R. Ford served in both the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the Oklahoma State Senate for a total of 38 years. During that time, he held multiple leadership roles, including Senate Minority Caucus Chair, Minority Whip, Assistant Minority Leader, and Minority Floor Leader. He leaves behind his loving wife of more than 70 years, Patricia, their four children, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
This executive order shall be forwarded to the Division of Capital Assets Management, who shall cause the provisions of this order to be implemented by all appropriate agencies of state government.
