Section 464.6 - Coordination with casework and administrative services
(a) Responsibilities of caseworker or casework supervisor. When volunteers are used to supplement the services of caseworkers, the social service plan for each recipient assigned a volunteer shall reflect at least the following responsibilities of the caseworker or casework supervisor:
(1) appraisal of the need for volunteer service;
(2) consulting the individual or family as to their willingness to accept volunteer services;
(3) introducing the volunteer to the individual or family;
(4) continuing evaluation of the need for and effectiveness of the service and recommendations as to continuation;
(5) securing needed resources or consultation;
(6) evaluating and recording case progress; and
(7) preparing records as required by the coordinator of volunteer activities.
(b) Review and reevaluation.
(1) Each individual situation receiving volunteer service shall be reviewed and reevaluated as to the need for and suitability of the services as frequently as is necessary, but at least every three months. Such reviews and reevaluations shall be made by the caseworker and approved by the caseworker's supervisor.
(2) When volunteers perform supportive services such as telephoning, assisting in waiting rooms, or assisting with food programs, the coordinator of the volunteer program shall be responsible for confirming the need for volunteer service, evaluation of the continuing need for and effectiveness of the service and recommending continuation for as long as necessary.
(3) The coordinator of volunteers shall confer regularly with casework staff, including supervisors, and with the commissioner to evaluate volunteer activities and to plan for expanded use of the program as indicated by needs of the clientele and of the district office.
