Section 50.1 - Helmet standards for bicyclists, in-line skaters and operators of scooters

The Commissioner of Motor Vehicles adopts the following sections of title 16 of the Code of Federal Regulations with the same force and effect as though herein fully set forth at length: part 1203.1, and parts 1203.4 through 1203.17. These standards shall apply to persons required to wear helmets as set forth in section 1238 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. These standards shall apply to helmets purchased on or after January 5, 2000.
