Section 8:34-4.4 - Equivalency of internship requirement
(a) The service requirement identified at 8:34-3.1(a)4 shall be met if the applicant either:
1. Has:
i. Obtained a Master's degree in Health Care Administration or Public Health Administration, or their equivalent, from an accredited institution of higher learning; and
ii. Completed an internship program, approved by the institution that conferred the Master's degree, of not less than 450 hours, or as determined by the Board to be substantially equivalent, in a nursing home with no fewer than 60 beds within the two years immediately preceding application to the Board for licensure; or
2. Has:
i. Obtained a Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Public Health Administration or Long Term Care Administration, or their equivalent, from an accredited institution of higher learning; and
ii. Completed an internship program, approved by the institution that conferred the Bachelor's degree, of not less than 900 hours, or as determined by the Board to be substantially equivalent, in a nursing home with no fewer than 60 beds within the two years immediately preceding application to the Board for licensure.
(b) An applicant who possesses a Master's degree, as identified in (a)1i above, and who has not completed an approved internship through the Master's program, shall complete at least 875 hours as an administrative intern, in a nursing home with no fewer than 60 beds.
(c) An applicant who possesses a Bachelor's degree, as identified in (a)2i above, and who has not completed an approved internship through the Bachelor's program, shall complete at least 1,250 hours, as an administrative intern, in a nursing home with no fewer than 60 beds.
