Section 8:34-7.3 - Sources of continuing education credit hours(a) The Board shall grant continuing education credit for a continuing education program directly related to the administration of nursing homes approved by any one of the following entities:2. A member state of the NAB;3. State or national associations or professional societies of licensed nursing home administrators;4. State or national associations of long-term healthcare facilities;5. State or national accredited institutions of higher learning; and6. State or national professional boards practicing in areas relevant to nursing home administration and the care of nursing home residents.(b) The Board shall grant education credit for successful completion of the following activities: 1. Teaching, for the first time, a course, seminar, workshop or program relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of one CEU hour for each hour of class presentation time per triennial licensure period;2. Serving as the preceptor to an individual who is completing 1,750 hours applying for an initial license as a nursing home administrator, at the rate of 16 CEU hours per triennial licensure period;3. Serving as the preceptor to an individual who is engaged in a remedial internship at the Board's direction, at the rate of four CEU hours per year;4. Teaching, for the first time, a semester-long course in an accredited institution of higher education relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of one hour of CEU for each hour of class presentation time;5. Teaching for the second and subsequent times, the same semester-long course as in (b)4 above in an accredited institution of higher education relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of one-tenth of one hour of CEU hours, that is, six minutes, for each hour of class presentation time, per course, per triennial licensure period;6. Completing a semester-long course from an accredited institution of higher education (taken in person, through home study or through electronic medium) relevant to the practice of nursing home administration, at the rate of one CEU hour for each hour of class presentation time per triennial licensure period;7. Completing an approved assisted living certification course, at the rate of 20 CEU hours, one time only;8. Completing approved education programs for Certified Assisted Living Administrators, at the rate of 10 CEU hours per triennial licensure period;9. Completing a master's thesis in an area relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of 20 CEU hours per triennial licensure period;10. Completing a doctoral dissertation in an area relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of 40 CEU hours per triennial licensure period;11. Publishing a book in an area relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of 40 CEU hours per triennial licensure period, per book;12. Publishing an article or manuscript for a professional trade publication or journal in an area relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of 15 CEU hours per triennial licensure period, per article or manuscript;13. Writing a chapter in a published book in an area relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of 15 CEU hours per triennial licensure period, per book; and/or14. Writing a published article for a magazine in an area relevant to the practice of nursing home administration as determined by the Board, at the rate of 10 CEU hours per triennial licensure period, per article.N.J.
