Section 16:53-6.24 - Signs(a) An illuminated sign indicating route, where applicable, and destination shall be provided, so designed and located that it may be read by day or night. Such sign shall not interfere with the driver's view or produce an annoying glare.(b) The destination sign requirement set forth in (a) above may be waived provided the operator receives written approval from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.(c) A sign shall be provided indicating that smoking on autobuses is prohibited by law.(d) Every small autobus shall have a sign with letters at least one-half inch high indicating that it is a violation of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's regulations for a bus to be operated with persons occupying the prohibited area as provided in 49 CFR § 393.90, incorporated herein by reference, as amended and supplemented.(e) A sign shall be provided that indicates the location of the fire extinguisher if the fire extinguisher is not readily visible.(f) All signs required by (c), (d) and (e) above shall be located in the interior front of the small autobus.N.J.
