Section Saf-C 1308.27 - Steps(a) The first step at the entrance door shall be no less than 12 inches and no more than 16 inches from the ground.(b) The entrance door shall be equipped with either a two-stepwell or three-stepwell. Steps in each class shall be equal.(c) Steps on each school bus, except a type A school bus, shall be enclosed to prevent the accumulation of ice and snow. (d) Steps on each school bus, except a type A school bus, shall not protrude beyond the body side line.(e) Steps on each school bus, except a type A school bus, shall be metal with proper tread covering, as set forth in Saf-C 1308.28.(f) Handrails shall be designed so as to not snag clothing, book bags or other items and shall be no less than 20 inches in length.N.H.
