Section Env-A 4607.12 - Closing of General Accounts

(a) If a CO₂ AAR of a general account wishes to close the account, the CO₂ AAR shall instruct the regional organization to close the account by submitting:

(1) A statement requesting deletion of the account from the CO₂ allowance tracking system; and

(2) A CO₂2 allowance transfer of all CO₂ allowances in the account to one or more other CO₂ allowance tracking system accounts for recordation under Env-A 4608.

(b) If a general account shows no activity for a period of one or more years and does not contain any CO₂ allowances, the regional organization shall send a written notice to the CO₂ AAR for the account, stating that the account will be closed in the CO₂ allowance tracking system 30 business days after the notice is sent unless the CO₂AAR submits, before the end of the 30-day period, a transfer of CO₂ allowances into the account in accordance with Env-A 4608.

(c) The regional organization shall close the account after 30 days from the date of the notice if the CO₂AAR does not submit a transfer of CO₂ allowances into the account in accordance with Env-A 4608.01 before the end of the 30-day period.
