Preliminary Requirements for acquiring a permit - All underground utility permits require that the permittee visit the site prior to submitting a permit application and discuss with the applicable District Permit Office to determine an acceptable location. Prior to this discussion all adjacent utilities shall be located and marked. Overall feasibility of the utility and prescribed location will then be determined. At that time, the determined location shall be shown on a legible, standard scaled drawing and referenced with station offsets, distance to the right-of-way line, as well as depth of facility from existing ground at critical points such as bottom of ditch, point of entry, and edge of pavement. The location of all facilities to be placed on right-of-way, all above ground appurtenances, as well as locations of any bore pits that may be needed for construction shall be shown on the scaled drawing. In addition, bore pits or other excavations necessary for the installation of the utility should be shown as well. Applicant shall be required to stake proposed utility location prior to submission of permit application.
