Section 10.44.26.03 - Qualifications - Dentist Who Has Not Passed a Regional Board
A. To qualify for a volunteer dentist's license, a dentist who has not passed a regional board shall:
(1) Be of good moral character;
(2) Be 18 years old or older;
(3) Hold a Degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery, Doctor of Dental Medicine, or the equivalent from a college or university that is:
(a) Authorized by any state or province of Canada to grant the degree; and
(b) Recognized by the Board as:
(i) Requiring adequate preprofessional collegiate training; and
(ii) Maintaining an acceptable course of dental instruction;
(4) Submit a notarized affidavit or other evidence satisfactory to the Board indicating that during the 5 years preceding application the applicant has actively engaged in practicing dentistry for at least 850 hours;
(5) Pass the NERB dental written examinations;
(6) Pass the Maryland Jurisprudence Examination on the Maryland State Dental Law;
(7) Hold an active license to practice dentistry in another state or in the District of Columbia;
(8) Meet the qualifications otherwise required for a general license to practice dentistry by Health Occupations Article, Title 4, Annotated Code of Maryland;
(9) Complete the continuing education requirements for an active general license to practice dentistry; and
(10) Provide dental services as set forth in Regulation .11 of this chapter.
B. If occurring during the 5 years preceding an application, the practice of dentistry in the armed forces, state and federal programs, and intern and residency programs counts toward the required hours of active practice.
